The Aha Moment That Changed Everything

I never really understood chemistry. I spent my entire high school senior year in chemistry class, took all the tests, did all the experiments and wound up making a B for the year. But I never understood it. Then about 20 years after high school an educator friend and writing partner told me this, “Chemistry is basically all about balancing both sides of an equation.” That’s when the light came on. I got it. After all the years I finally understood chemistry with one simple statement.

That’s the way it was with my anxiety. I read lots of books, listened to countless hours of podcasts, took hundreds of self evaluations, and did a ton of soothing techniques. I would get better and feel better but I never really understood why it kept coming back. Then a therapist said one word and it all made sense. TRAUMA.

That’s my anxiety and my story. Your anxiety may have a bit of a different chemistry. But sometimes one observation or one statement can be a game changer. And when that AHA MOMENT comes, healing can begin.
